Position Title: Adult Protective Services Policy Supervisor

Job Description:

The Office of Adult, Aging and Disability Services, Aging & Adult Services welcomes your interest in the Adult Protective Services Unit Policy Supervisor position. This position is the supervisor of the policy team for the Adult Protective Services (APS) program and will be the direct supervisor for four Social Services Specialist FTE within the APS policy team. The position will report directly to the Adult Mistreatment Prevention and Response Section manager. The APS policy unit will: 1)  oversee the development of training and written instructional materials developed for county APS staff, other professional agencies, and community groups; 2) provide technical assistance and consultation to county staff; 3) monitor program requirements compliance; 4) recommend and write, legislative, rule, policy, and other types of changes and provide analysis of same; and 5) participate on external task forces, committees, or work groups.

Responsibilities:

  • Recommend policy and best practice for the APS program to be implemented by county departments statewide
  • Prepare reports, guidance, and recommendations for the Adult Mistreatment Prevention and Response Section (AMPRS) manager related to mistreatment of at-risk adults in Colorado
  • Legislative initiatives
  • Program quality and integrity
  • Direction to the county department related to performance and program compliance
  • Rule development and updates
  • Identification of new promising and best practices in the APS program
  • Train for county department APS staff
  • Monitor county program compliance with APS statutory and regulatory requirements as it relates to targeted program requirements
  • Develop a schedule for follow up, training, and technical assistance for Counties
  • Respond to questions and requests from county staff and community professionals related to program processes and implementation
  • Provide technical assistance and consultation on complex issues related to adult protection Establish standards for prompt reply to county personnel and develops tools to measure effectiveness

Requirements:

  • Experience supervising and/or leading a team
  • Preferred candidates will have experience developing and delivering curriculum, conducting quality assurance reviews, conducting investigations, and providing protective and/or case management services
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Requires a minimum of five years of human services program, Experience, with at least two of those years in the Colorado Adult Protective Services program as either a supervisor or state-level specialist
  • At least two years experience with the CAPS data system is required
