Position Title: Major Crime Investigation Officer

Job Description:

We are now recruiting for Major Crime Investigation Officers to join our Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) in Bristol on a 12-month fixed term contract.

Responsibilities:

  • Interview witnesses and obtain statements in accordance with the Criminal Justice Act and to compile written reports and statements of evidence.
  • Carry out the role of Disclosure Officer or Exhibits Officer (or deputy) when required.
  • Carry out functions and roles within the Major Incident Room including the intelligence cell function and CCTV.
  • Obtain and execute search warrants and to carry out searches.
  • Assist in the preparation of prosecution or other evidential files for the Crown Prosecution Service, Coroner or other relevant authority.
  • Update manual and computer records where required for the purposes of an investigation.

Requirements:

  • You must be computer literate with experience of using and updating both manual and computer records
  • You should have experience of writing reports and / or statements of evidence
  • You must have experience of liaising with a range of departments / organisations / agencies
  • You should have experience of interviewing witnesses or suspects and taking statements.
  • Previous experience of working in a Policing environment is desirable.
  • You should ideally hold a full current driving licence or be able to travel around the region to Wiltshire and Gloucestershire locations using alternative transport.
