Position Title: PCCT Executive Support Officer

Job Description:

Operations Directorate seeks to secure the consistent delivery of an excellent service to members of the public and to criminal justice partners, and continues to play a crucial role in delivering a streamlined and better integrated CPS Headquarters function. The Directorate has a wide remit, and is responsible for a comprehensive range of work, aimed directly at supporting the frontline. There is a clear link between the Directorate’s function and the ability of the CPS to meet its aims and objectives. Critical to the delivery of this work is effective internal working relationships with the Areas, Casework Divisions and other Directorates, and successful external partnerships with criminal justice service agencies.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an awareness of local and national issues so as to ensure that when dealing with members of the public and other CJS colleagues/partners, queries are dealt with professionally/delegated appropriately to the most knowledgeable person in order to maintain public confidence in the CPS.
  • Maintain an understanding of the CPS’ role within the CJS in order to present our position in the most appropriate way to external stakeholders.
  • Assist the Complaints, Correspondence and Enquiries Manager with the preparation of statistics for complaints, correspondence including Parliamentary correspondence and telephone enquiries.
    Build and maintain relationships and foster partnerships with key stakeholders within the Criminal Justice System (CJS), other government departments, agencies and relevant external organisations in order to facilitate cross-departmental/organisational collaboration and joined-up working.
  • Answer the Public Enquiry Point telephone in a timely manner. Ensure that each caller is dealt with appropriately, either replying to them directly or referring them on to an appropriate contact point within the department. Record calls as appropriate.
