Job Description:
SDCP is seeking an experienced, driven, detail oriented and solutions-focused professional to join our growing team as a Data and Systems Analyst. Under supervision of Director of Data Analytics & Account Services, the Data and Systems Analyst will be responsible for compiling, processing, querying, reviewing, analyzing and reporting on datasets from our local Investor-Owned Utility (San Diego Gas & Electric) and external Data Management vendors where you’ll analyze AMI data for completeness, trends and patterns. You will also review billing data sets for quantification of revenues, A/R and settlements. This position will work collaboratively within a team environment and perform cross-functional duties to provide support to the Power Resources and Account Services Teams.
Responsibilities:
- Mining data from primary and secondary sources and organizing said data accordingly for use by internal stakeholders.
- Performing quality control on the datasets from the Investor-Owned Utility (San Diego Gas & Electric) and external Data Management vendors.
- Assisting with rate analysis, quality control, dataset design, and reporting
- Preparing visual analytics on software such as PowerBI, Tableau or Qlik for better UI and dashboard presentation after understanding internal users’ needs
- Assisting with energy load forecasting models with a good understanding of econometrics impact on the energy markets
- Collaborating with Finance and Power Services teams on energy loads and revenue forecasting projects
- Proactively identify questions or opportunities where data analysis could improve operational functions or agency decision-making needs
- Devising and implementing efficient and secure procedures for data management and analysis with attention to all technical aspects
- Collaborating with internal departments to build and manage cross-channel data integration
- Writing staff reports and delivering presentations at Board meetings
- Performing related duties and responsibilities as required.
Requirements:
- Advanced MS Excel skills
- Advanced knowledge and skills in cloud platform data services including Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure; cloud platform data storage and management tools; knowledge of database languages such as SQL, R, or Python
- Data administration and management functions (e.g. collection, cleaning, analysis, distribution, etc.)
- Data analytics and ability to work with large data sets to develop insights, dashboards, visualizations to support overall goals
- CCA experience is a plus
- Any combination of education and experience that would provide the knowledge and abilities listed. A typical way to obtain the require qualifications would be:
A four-year degree from an accredited college or university in Statistics, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or any other related quantitative field. - A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a data science capacity or related field.
