Responsibilities:

  • Derby Museums is recruiting a Director of Programmes to lead its teams working in learning, display and interpretation and curatorship.
  • We’re looking for a candidate who is experienced, confident, creative, collaborative and willing to try new things.
  • You will build on the success of the critically acclaimed £18m Museum of Making at Derby Silk Mill and deliver an inspiring programme across our three museum sites, in the community and online.
  • You will connect with communities, encouraging people to view museums as part of their daily lives.
  • You’ll shape programmes which will bring joy but will also encourage audiences to look at the world differently.
  • You’ll form mutual relationships with educators, artists, industry, and community partners.
  • You’ll co-ordinate and advance relationships with local, national, and international partners and stakeholders.
  • You’ll lead the public programme elements as we initiate ambitious plans to re-develop Derby Museum and Art Gallery – the home of Joseph Wright of Derby.
