Position Title:LEAD PLANT OPERATOR

Job Description:

The Lead Plant Operator III/IV works under general supervision, as a working leader, to direct the work of an “assigned crew” in the operation and maintenance of the City’s domestic water conditioning plants and chemical feed equipment used in the field by the water system or the operation and maintenance of a 14 MGD tertiary wastewater treatment plant (10 MGD activated sludge), followed by multi-media filtration and disinfection, before being discharged into either a state receiving waters, landscape irrigation or a recreation area (wildlife habitat).  The Lead Plant Operator III/IV is also responsible for providing work direction, instructions, training, giving guidance to staff and developing new procedures and methods for accomplishing the work.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Plant Operator IV – Possession of a valid Grade IV Wastewater Treatment Operator
  • Certificate issued by the California State Water Resources Control Board.
  • Lead Plant Operator III – Possession of a valid Grade III Wastewater Treatment Operator
  • Certificate issued by the California State Water Resources Control Board.

Requirements:

  • Lead Plant Operator III – Possession of a valid Grade III Water Treatment Operator certificate issued by the California State Water Resources Control Board. (A Grade IV Water Treatment
  • Operator certificate is required by the State for this position within two years of appointment.)
  • Lead Plant Operator IV – Possession of a valid Grade IV Water Treatment Operator certificate issued by the California State Water Resources Control Board.
