Position Title: Software Engineer

Job Description:
You will join Advanced Technology, which is a division within Ocado Technology that solely focuses on the development of strategic and specifically complex and emergent technologies that are critical to the future of Ocado, Ocado Smart Platform (our B2B grocery business) and now General Merchandise.
Responsibilities:
- You will work as a senior technical person within a small team in the multidisciplinary department that is building all the systems and interfaces that are needed to run a fleet of production autonomous delivery vehicles.
Requirements:
- Experience working with Java in a production environment,
- Awareness and experience of modern software development processes and principles,
- Experience with frontend development could be helpful too – React + Typescript
- You have strong written and verbal communication skills
- You have a relentless thirst for knowledge – learning from courses, experience and feedback
- You contribute actively and enthusiastically; utilising high levels of creativity where appropriate
- You have excellent problem-solving skills; reliant on core engineering understanding together with common sense
- You have a bias for action, cooperation and trust
- You are logical and take a structured approach, including in situations of ambiguity
- You have the ability and desire to share subject matter expertise and knowledge effectively for the communal good
- You have excellent intellect, ability to absorb new information rapidly and can contribute innovatively and reliably to system implementation projects
- You warmly nurture less experienced colleagues through teaching and support
