Job Description:

The City of Seattle, is recruiting for a strategic, collaborative leader committed to data integrity and transparency to lead the economic and revenue forecast functions of the City. The Director, Office of Economic and Revenue Forecasts (OERF) is accountable for providing independent forecasts and economic analyses to increase transparency in the City’s budgeting process, create a level playing field between the executive and legislative branches of government, and enhance the City’s work related to forecasts and other economic analysis. The work of OERF determines the availability of revenue, essential, and legally required, to the development of the City’s Budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the City’s collective knowledge related to revenue and economic forecasting. Provide expert-level technical assistance in performance, and application of, economic and revenue research.  Direct the analysis of local, regional, national and international economies and trends. Supports and informs the work of building and maintaining datasets to support forecasting and revenue policy analysis.  
  • Commit to teamwork and transparency.  Seeks to solve problems and share knowledge through collaborative teamwork and information sharing.  Supports a continuous and consistent flow of communication regarding the work of OERF with the Forecast Council, among branches of City government and with regional stakeholders. Holds regular meetings with staff, managers and regional partners for planning, communication and other purposes.
  • Lead strategic initiatives. Assures the work of OERF is aligned, efficient, equitable, and integrated in forwarding City values and objectives. Closely coordinates with the Forecast Council to develop strategy and an annual work plan and partners with stakeholders in implementation.  
  • Hold self and others accountable.  Establishes and consistently communicates expected outcomes and standards.  Develops plans of action with the Forecast Council and City departments and holds the OERF team accountable for achieving identified performance outcomes.
