Job Description:

Reporting to the County Manager, this appointed position will be responsible for creating and executing a strategic plan for diversity, equity and inclusion for the County, workforce and services to the community. This position will also serve as the EEO and ADA coordinator for the County.

Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and creates programs to eliminate barriers to engagement and/or employment with the County. Works with County Manager and departments to examine rules, policies and procedures that may contribute to an inequitable work environment and public service.
  • Advises and consults with County Manager, administration, attorneys and staff regarding diversity, equity and disability program compliance; interprets related laws and policies; identifies potential exposure(s) and recommends solutions; serves as the County’s subject matter expert and advisor to executive staff; provides briefs and updates as needed.
  • Collaborates with County attorneys and human resources to respond to state, federal, and external agencies regarding non-discrimination and accessibility issues; acts as point of contact for related inquiries, information requests, and grievances; ensures appropriate maintenance of confidential records and information tracking systems.
  • Works with departments, agencies and elected officials to develop performance indicators and progress benchmarks to ensure accountability to institutional equity, diversity and inclusion. Conducts analyses on data from performance indicators to determine areas of progress and opportunity in regards to diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business or related field required; supplemented by seven years of progressive, directly responsible experience in a role focused on diversity, equity, equal opportunity and inclusion; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • PHR, SPHR or SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP and/or Diversity and Inclusion Certification is required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
