Job Description:

Boulder County’s Department of Housing and Human Services (BCDHHS) is accepting applications for the position of Division Director. The Division Director oversees all programming and services related to Child Welfare and Adult Protection, including Screening, Assessment, Case, Ongoing, Foster Care, Kinship Care, Adoption, Visitation, Family Meeting Facilitation, Entitlements, etc. The Division Director leads and supports a dynamic team of program and clinical leaders, providing supervision and coaching

Responsibilities:

  • Administers the operations of BCDHHS Family & Children Services Division including the development and oversight of Division goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned programs; assumes responsibility and implementation of Federal and State statutes; and, policies and procedures mandated by State and local authorities.
  • Follows updates, changes, and trends to Child Welfare and Adult Protection including legislation that may impact programming.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors the budget for the Division including budget analysis and meeting expenditure projections.
  • Responsible for tracking, reviewing, analyzing and making data-informed decisions pertaining to Family & Children Services programming.
  • Works with community agencies (partners) to further the goals and objectives of the Board of County Commissioners, County Management, and the Department.
  • Continuously monitors BCDHHS programming practices, policies, and any vulnerable areas and provide recommendations and solutions.
  • Reviews and implements the Departmental strategic plan in alignment with the County’s Strategic Plan.
  • Creates, monitors, reviews, and negotiates select division contracts

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of Human Services programming, specifically knowledge and expertise pertaining to Child Welfare and Adult Protection
  • Deep commitment to racial equity, justice, inclusion and diversity
  • Knowledge of Code of Colorado Regulations pertaining to Child Welfare Services and Adult Protection
  • Ability to provide leadership to personnel and facilitate meetings and discussions
  • Skill to operate computer programs such as Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Thorough knowledge of budgetary principles and practices
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a strong team member
  • Ability to work well with diverse members of the public
  • Ability to maintain composure and decision-making abilities in high-stress situations
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
