Job Description:
Provide technical assistance in the administration and supervision of design and construction for Facilities Capital Improvement Projects.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical assistance in the administration and supervision of design and construction for Facilities Capital Improvement Projects.
- Assist with preparation and review of design/construction contracts, plans, specifications, technical reports, invoices and pay estimates, supplemental agreements or appropriations, change orders, request for information and request for council action.
- Attend and participate with design/construction progress meetings and on-site field observations/inspections.
- Assist with coordination and management of design consultants and construction contractors.
- Investigate and respond to inquiries by other City of Houston departments, consultants, agencies, contractors and the general public.
Requirements:
- Requires graduation from an approved curriculum in Engineering by the State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers with satisfactory standing;
- Requires graduation from an Engineering or related science curriculum at a recognized institution of higher education, other than a curriculum approved by the Board, and passage of the eight – hour fundamentals of engineering examination prescribed by the Board.
- Possession of a valid Engineering-in-Training Certificate issued by the Board under the current requirements of the Texas Engineering Practice Act.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License and compliance with the City of Houston policy on driving (AP 2-2).
- Preference will be given to applicants with experience in design, construction and project management skills. Strong communication skills, decision oriented, problem solving attitude and computer skills will be preferred.
