Position Title: Data Enablement Director

Job Description:

This role defines the data enablement strategy and data governance across the segment and the LIOMs, supporting Market and Global Leadership by gathering and analysing data from multiple sources to produce meaningful business insights that demonstrate the value Global Technology delivers to the LIOM business. The role creates value by unlocking and sharing data and information in ways which will support effective decision making.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver bold a coherent, globally aligned, Data Enablement strategy that not only standardises our data sources, tools, and dashboards but which contributes to the LIOM information and reporting needs.
  • Develop and maintain controls on data quality, interoperability, and sources to effectively manage risk associated with the use of data and analytics. Strive to reduce the cost of managing data and increase the value of the data.
  • Define the approach to Governance, Quality & Management to address issues like poor data quality, lack of access control and lack of usability and understandability of data assets.
  • Ensure strategies are aligned with business objectives and are communicated effectively internally and externally.
  • Build long-term relationship with data functions, such as Data Engineering to ensure platform developments can support a wide range of analytical use cases.
  • Manage relationships with senior business stakeholders to influence and shape analytics requirements.
  • Promote the function and share key insights and results with a variety of internal business stakeholders and broader audiences through the use various data visualisation, reporting and dashboard technologies to analyse and visualise data.
  • Derive actionable insights from enterprise data sources and provide interpretable recommendations.
  • Lead cross-functional teams applying agile methodologies to plan and deliver a wide range of data-focused projects.
  • Manage a transparent backlog of analytics work and prioritising competing demands effectively.
  • Partner with other data functions to support specific analytics project deliverables where necessary.
  • Share our best practices with our Global colleagues and importantly, ensuring we are identifying and implementing best practices already applied elsewhere.
  • Manage recruitment; team organisation; motivation and recognition; internal processes and procedures; talent management and succession planning.
  • Create clear career frameworks and skills profiles for team members (and contributing to broader efforts to create data career frameworks across the business).
  • Ensure all internal staff have personal development plans; coaching; usage of appropriate training courses; building of a strong team with an adaptable and varied skill base.
  • Setting and communication of team goals and OKR’s; ensure all staff have business objectives which are regularly reviewed; monitoring progress to ensure all aspects of work are effectively led; handling workload peaks and conflicts. Implement agile ceremonies and tools.
  • Identify means to create more simplified ways of working for the team – through clear prioritisation, a confidence to say ‘no’ to appropriate activity and improving processes and systems through which the teamwork.
  • Provide opportunities for team members to share their knowledge with broader audiences across the segment and LIOMs.
  • Support the Future Readiness Apprentice Program by assigning team members to support and train any apprentices assigned to your team.

Requirements:

  • Ability to deliver complex disparate information in a clear, succinct way.
  • Ability to work with senior business stakeholders to elicit and shape analytics requirements.
  • Experience leading data engineering or analytics work using a structured backlog and agile delivery methodologies (e.g. CI/CD).
  • Experience translating business insight requirements into data engineering requirements and partnering with engineering functions to ensure timely and reliable delivery.
  • Experience managing a variety of data professionals, especially analysts & data scientists.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Experience working with governance programme G and awareness of key legislation such as GDPR, data security protocols, policies, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of data-related technologies and products and their applicability to various use cases.
  • Ability to effectively drive business, culture, and technology change in a dynamic and complex operating environment and deliver value/benefits.
  • Knowledge of trends and developments in the fields of data management and data analytics.
  • Exemplary diplomatic skills and ability to help senior business leaders see value, opportunities, and risks beyond their own area of expertise.
  • Familiar with big data technologies, databases, and Extract Transform Load (ETL) tools.
  • Robust facilitation skills to lead strategy creation and planning discussions.
  • Work with energy and passion and can inspire the same in others.
  • Proficient with industry tools including Tableau, MicroStrategy, PowerBI, Smartsheet.
  • A positive curious mind set, confidence, self-motivation and be a logical problem solver.
  • Ability to coordinate, allocate, motivate, and manage resources and projects throughout multiple teams; build a feedback-rich environment that inspires and models the exchange of feedback.
  • Willing to travel internationally and work hours to accommodate the multiple time zones in which we operate Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a Senior Data & Insights role(s).
