Position Title: Duty Manager

Job Description:

We are looking for a new Duty Manager to work alongside our current postholder, to uphold our standards and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for our visitors. Working closely with colleagues across the Castle you will be ensuring that the visitor experience is uniformly first-rate.

Responsibilities:

  • A floor-based, operational manager delivering daily heritage visitor attraction operations and coordinating responses to a range of issues, you will be able to operate independently when required as the senior manager on-site, ensuring that all KPIs and service standards are met.
  • You will have responsibility for ensuring the smooth and efficient operations including the enjoyment, experience, well-being and Health and Safety of the Castle visitors, staff and contractors.
  • You would co-ordinate and manage the paid and voluntary staff, ensuring that all the customer facing areas of the Castle are sufficiently covered and making the Castle visitor ready. During the day you would be responsible for the continued co-ordination of staff and volunteers and be the first point of call for those everyday occurrences that take place in a large and busy event-based attraction.
  • You will also have responsibility for reviewing visitor experience information and also for making recommendations to enhance the Visitor Experience.

Requirements:

  • A knowledge and interest in the broader arts, museum and heritage sector.
  • A solid understanding of the visitor journey and how to enhance it.
  • Safeguarding practice
  • A good knowledge of health and safety requirements.
  • Experience of working in a busy, visitor-focussed environment
  •  Experience of engaging and influencing both management and delivery teams.
  • A broad understanding of heritage and conservation issues, public engagement and customer-facing activities
  • Experience in a similar fast-paced customer facing environment
  • Dedication to fostering diversity and representation, with a shown ability to work with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
