Position Title: Talent Consultant

Job Description:

As a Talent Consultant you will play a supporting role in ensuring all activity is aligned to the retail priorities and corporate strategy, ensuring we have the right level of resource, skills, experience, and succession in the right place.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the STL to develop and execute talent strategies where required and in doing so feedback ideas and suggestions to support ongoing development. This can be supported by you bringing external market knowledge and insight into team discussions to support STLs with their strategy development.
  • With a deep understanding of the retail priorities and objectives to support the STLs with talent plan task allocations to the TDCs. This will ensure resource is flexed appropriately based on lead talent specialism priorities and business needs
  • Work with the corporate MI/Analysts teams to define the data and reports required for the STLs, track performance against MI & data, producing key insights for the area.
  • Coach the line to become confident and expert to fully understand the talent and learning offer, using reports and insight to drive line activity and coaching
  • Share best practice and network with other TCs/TDCs ensuring all teams work collaboratively and share ideas across the zone
  • Support the STLs with active listening, driving communication and championing activities across the zone.

Requirements:

  • A good understanding of HR disciplines (both internal & external) including talent management, colleague engagement, inclusion and recruitment, with a proven track record of taking deliverables and aligning then to the right team member
  • A good understanding of talent and learning developments processes, models and mythologies and can bring these to life
  • Awareness of how different individuals learn and how to apply this flexibly to deliver the training
  • Understand Retail and Sainsbury’s culture – using insight into the way the business and zone operates to get things done
  • Ability to work independently and proactively, prioritising and managing workload to agreed timescales
  • Set and pursue guidance without direction and able to manage workload and conflicting priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to create and source information for presentations. Have credible and confident presentation style, able to move from explaining to engaging
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with Centres of Excellence and across broad teams
  • Displays mature and grounded confidence in the presence of senior people, responding in an appropriate manner to criticism and remaining optimistic in the face of obstacles
  • Good project management skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret, analyse, and use large amounts of data
  • Ability to problem solve and demonstrate operational and strategic skills
