Job Description:

The TYA Psychology service was established in 2012 as part of the multidisciplinary TYA service for people with a diagnosis of cancer or a brain tumour aged 16-24 years at the time of diagnosis. You will contribute to the ongoing development of the psychology service and join the lead TYA psychologist, another 8a psychologist, consultant hematologist service lead, TYA Lead Nurse, specialist dietitian, fertility consultant, social worker and administrator in identifying and supporting the needs of this young adult population.

Responsibilities:

  • You will supervise and manage junior staff, and embrace the variety of work undertaken by the team such as group therapy, research, teaching and audit.
  • You will contribute to the development of the TYA psychology service with the opening of a brand new TYA unit.
  • You will welcome the opportunities to enhance your own practice via professional development and contact with other psychologists across the Trust.
  • The service is a popular placement destination for Doctoral clinical psychology trainees and MSc psychology students and you will help to continue to support placements.
