Position Title: Data Science Lead

Job Description:

Hometrack is looking for a Data Science Lead to guide the Data Science team of Hometrack, the division of Zoopla that focuses on the financial services market.

Responsibilities:

  • The Data Science thought leader, you’ll help shape the future of valuation prediction and automation in the industry
  • Lead and develop a team of data scientists and collaborate closely with Product, Engineers and Analytics to discover, develop and implement new solutions
  • Owning and developing the data science roadmap for model and solution innovation
  • Researching and embedding advanced machine learning and AI capabilities across our model and product range
  • Implementing new model features and enhancements and provide cross-functional support/training
  • Responsible for collaboration across our organisation including with the Zoopla data science and Calcasa data science (our sister AVM company in the Netherlands) teams
  • Ensuring timely project delivery including model re-platforming and improving the efficiency of our data builds and implementation of ML solutions
  • Ensure model maintenance and reviews are in place including documentation, code-review, ticketing, version control etc. (GIT, Azure DevOps)
  • Engage closely with senior stakeholders, external partners and key customers to contribute to product discovery, forge relationships and provide technical expertise and support

Requirements:

  • You have advanced training in a quantitative field and significant experience delivering solutions as a data scientist. Ideally you are educated to Masters or PhD level
  • You are deeply familiar with data analytics, big data, statistical modelling etc. to designbuild and deliver data solutions in a business, academic or equivalent context
  • You have experience managing a team of data scientists, while still being involved in hands-on work yourself
  • You have experience working in cross-functional teams of Engineers, Product Managers etc. to develop, implement and maintain statistical models
  • You have a thorough understanding of statistics and probability theory (distributions, moments, correlation, inference) and previous experience with programming languages and/or statistical and data analysis tools: SQL (highly desired), one of Python/R/Matlab etc.
  • You have experience with Machine Learning techniques and ML libraries (e.g. TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn, XGBoost etc.) and affinity with software engineering
  • You are familiar with version control principles and systems (Git, GitHub)
  • Familiarity with computer vision, natural language processing and/or working with large geospatial datasets is desirable
  • Ultimately, even if you are not familiar with some of the above, you are eager to learn, figure stuff out and get things to work
