Position Title: Data Analyst

Job Description:

Working alongside business partners in Digital Opex and Castrol’s PUs, HUBs, Functions and Markets providing support the delivery of data science initiatives whilst building programmatic approaches using data & analytics principles and leveraging the curated datasets within the Castrol Data eco system.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and maintain the analytics tools on an ongoing basis, working with business teams to design and develop algorithms.
  • Contribute building libraries from available data in the Castrol Data eco system for data analytics projects.
  • Derive actionable business insights from data that require advanced statistics and data capabilities.
  • Translate business scenarios and optimisation options into the mathematical modelling through partnering with functional experts. Interpret constraints and translate modelling outcomes into insights and what-if analysis to drive robust and well-informed decision making.
  • Use the Data Modelling Framework and repository for all data areas across all the main ERPs and source systems and digital landscape.
  • Support the Data Science Lead in managing data challenges for data science projects, analytics and digital innovation defined by C&P, CVP&E, I&E, GBS and Castrol’s PU, HUB, Functions and Markets and applies knowledge of end to end Digital and Data strategic view of Data Management framework, across all impacted functions/business areas and hand-offs to ensure accuracy, a balanced digital or data solution is designed, which optimises business performance and support excellence in the Castrol customer offer.
  • Act as an SME for assigned projects in the Castrol digital agenda (e.g., IPM, GSC) ensuring sustainability and strategic alignment through-out the roll-out and embedding phase.

Requirements:

  • Degree level education in analytical field, preferably Mathematics or engineering (or 5 yrs+, relevant experience).
  • Experience and successful delivery of data analytics projects.
  • Experience in solving data & analytics problems using programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
  • Ability to articulate the value proposition for the above to technical and non-technical audiences, gain buy in and provide support across all levels or the organisation
  • Experience with streaming data processing and cloud architecture.
  • Experience in statistical modelling and/or machine learning, cluster analysis and/or multi-variant regressions models
  • Well-versed data & analytics citizen with (i) hands-on experience using applications Python, R, SQL, Power BI, and Excel (skills such as coding, insights creation, storytelling, reporting, pipeline creation), (ii) knowledge of linear algebra, statistics, and data modelling, and (iii) knowledge of gathering data from various sources (e.g., AWS data source, SQL database, shared folders).
  • Ability to bring meaningful results from raw data and to turn the data into an asset for the business.
  • Work across multiple levels of detail: Analytics, MI, data, process design principles, operating model intent and systems design
  • Influencing skills to bring expertise and experience to shape value delivery
  • Basic leadership skills and some record of successful deployment in multiple areas, across input and output success criteria measures
  • Ability to work with customers to develop hypotheses and make inferences to help gain competitive advantage.
  • Enthusiasm for learning new things and going deep into detailed data analysis. Passion for being part of a growing data science team, up for the challenge and drive to build something new and innovative.
