Position Title:Civil Engineer I

Job Description:
Does routine professional engineering work in the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of civil engineering projects; assists in preparing designs, plans, specifications, estimates, and reports; and performs other related duties as required.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares architectural designs, layouts, plans, and specifications for proposed and existing buildings and structures.
- Develops architectural and structural drawings and plumbing, sewer, electrical wiring and lighting system layouts.
- Prepares perspective drawings.
- Makes mathematical computations.
- Lists materials needed in the construction, alteration, or repair of buildings and estimates probable costs.
- Surveys project sites, secures field data, and prepares field sketches.
- Drafts, complies, and edits specifications for building projects.
- Contacts representatives of using agencies for special requirements.
- Checks plans and specifications for major buildings and structures having considerable details and makes notations of corrections necessary.
- May supervise and review the work of lower level drafting technician on assigned projects.
- May prepare layouts for proposed projects to be used in applying for Federal aid.
- Advises inspectors and/or contractors in the interpretation of plans and specifications.
Requirements:
- graduation from an accredited college or university with major work (baccalaureate degree) in civil engineering (scan and attach your official college transcript), and
- possession of a valid State of Hawai’i driver’s license (Class 3) or any other valid comparable driver’s license at time of filing. (You will be required to submit your valid driver’s license at time of hire).
