Position Title:DIVISION OF PERSONNEL LEGAL COUNSEL

Job Description:
Under the direction of Director, this individual serves in a confidential and policy-making capacity. This position involves providing legal guidance to the divisions’ executive and management staff. This individual will protect and safeguard the divisions’ rights and interests.
Responsibilities:
- Provides legal advice and direction to the Director as it pertains to the development of policies, rules, regulations and procedures and interpretation of federal and local regulations.
- Development and implement all Department/Agency policies, rules, regulations and procedures and interpretation of federal and local regulations Represents the Department/Agency in all legal matters.
- Determine action to be taken to originate or respond to legal proceedings and as appropriate, consult and review with Director and designated managers.
- Creates new and reviews pending and new legislation affecting Department/Agency interests, assesses the impact on the Agency and recommends action as appropriate.
- Represents the Department/Agency in court proceedings as deemed necessary.
- Conducts legal research. Performs as Department/Agency liaison to the Department of Justice and other agencies as it pertains to legal matters.
Requirements:
- Ability to (or possess the skill level to gain ability to) define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to work with a wide variety of other professionals and staff engaged in the delivery of Human Resources.

- Ability to work well independently including without administrative support when required. Organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills are essential
