Position Title: Economic Development Assistant Director

Job Description:

Under general direction, direct economic development programs and projects to promote the City’s economic development initiatives and ensure achievement of department goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, manage and direct economic development programs.
  • Involves: Assist in managing the development and implementation of department goals, objectives, policies, and priorities.
  • Oversee and assign work that involves preparing, revising and maintaining specific functions of the department to include the implementation of City and regional marketing initiatives, redevelopment policy, business recruitment, business retention, and business expansion programs.
  • Oversee the development of an effective plan for a systematic redevelopment strategy.
  • Oversee the evaluation of project economics, community needs and land use in developing recommendations for types of development appropriate for redevelopment project areas.
  • Coordinate with other departments and external organizations as appropriate to communicate the City’s initiatives and accomplishments in economic development to local, regional, national, and international audiences.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Business or Public Administration, Urban or Regional Planning,  or related field,
  • four  (4) years of professional experience planning and managing economic development programs, trade development, international trade, commercial or residential real estate development or urban and regional planning including
  • two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience.
