Position Title:Ops Systems Dev Engineer

Job Description:

There continues to be a significant investment into IT realising Hermes’ vision of being a digital business with data being a significant enabler for the Hermes Business Strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the design and development of strategic operational systems to ensure developments are delivered on time and in line with business strategy
  • Be the point of contact for the business to capture small change requests to improve specific systems
  • Assess small change requests and make recommendations back to the Ops Dev and Ops Intelligence functions as to whether they should be progressed and what priority they should be given
  • Be the Subject Matter Expert for specific systems, designing workflow solutions for both small change requests and wider business developments in line with the requirements of the development or small change
  • Liaise with other Subject Matter Experts and stakeholders to ensure proposed workflow solutions fit with process and MI solutions
  • Work with IT Product Owners to create JIRA tickets or the equivalent, ensuring they meet the requirements of the development or small change and are create on schedule to allow developments to start on time
  • Ensure JIRA tickets or the equivalent are correctly prioritised in line with the Ops Dev strategy
  • Own and track specific ops system developments and small changes, ensuring that regular updates are provided and fed into the overall Ops Development list with escalations requested if required
  • Attend IT planning sessions for the specific systems, drive the development teams to ensure deadlines are met, keeping operational stakeholders up to date on progress

Requirements:

  • Experience in process/workflow mapping with solution design experience
  • Customer journey mapping and design experience
  • Experience using analytical tools such as Business Objects or SAP Analytics Cloud
  • Experience working with Agile IT Functions and IT development software such as JIRA
  • Experience in building business cases and value stream mapping
  • Logical and numerical reasoning skills
  • Solution design and costing experience
  • MS Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint
