Position Title:Software Engineer

Job Description:

We are building a new platform team and are looking for someone who will be responsible for the greenfield design, development and DevOps support for a Data & Analytics Portal with high visibility within the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with the Data Engineering team to provide a unified view of the Data Lake operations, data catalogue and data lineage.
  • Engage with the BI team to integrate KPI data and reports into the portal.
  • Work collaboratively with frontend engineers who will rely on APIs you will provide to drive the portal.
  • Develop using TDD and peer-review in a CI/CD culture with strong support for iterative development cycles with an evolutionary design.
  • Enjoy working in a collaborative distributed team alongside other talented, passionate developers
  • Help improve the development process, systems you work with and build continuously.

Requirements:

  • A great software engineer foremost, with a good understanding of effective software development
  • Strong experience and proven experience of: working with unit and integration testing, working in microservices, APIs, e.g.( APIs, gRPC or GraphQL), with NoSQL and relational data stores
  • Familiarity with Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, Datadog, Airflow
  • Experience with Java, Scala, or Kotlin
  • Experience with functional programming
  • Experience in building reliable, monitored and maintainable systems
  • Embraces Agile
  • Experience with cloud computing, ideally AWS
  • Ability to solve problems and think across different scales from the strategic right down to the code optimisation and debugging level
  • Ability to separate essential complexity from incidental complexity and a desire to reduce complexity.
