Position Title: Principal Permitting Team Leader

Job Description:

We are looking for a Principal Permitting Team Leader (PPTL) to join the National Permitting Service (NPS) and support teams to help create a cleaner, safer and healthier environment.

Responsibilities:

  • This is a permanent position working with a Birmingham based team undertaking Installations Permitting. Installations cover a wide range of industrial activities which pose high levels of risk to the environment.
  • As a leader of a team of twelve people, you will work with your team to be the best they can be through managing their performance, looking after their health, safety and wellbeing and helping them to develop.
  • You will work with your team to prioritise and make decisions based on good business sense and risk. You will support them through changes in NPS and the processes they use as we work to improve.
  • You will have ample opportunity to develop yourself to be a better leader and could take on additional roles within NPS or the wider Environment Agency.

  • Ability to lead people and motivate them to deliver results.
  • Judgement and decision-making skills to manage complex determinations.
  • Influencing skills to develop and enhance relationships with customers and stakeholders.
  • Work planning skills mean you’re able to handle multiple priorities and deliver to timescales
  • Coaching skills to develop team members and other colleagues to ensure effective delivery.
  • Broad knowledge of Environment Agency duties and responsibilities
