Position Title: Communications Officer

Job Description:

The Communications Officer will work closely with the Communications Manager and Communications Assistant. You will be responsible for managing MATCHESFASHION’s presence and perception as well as press across the UK and international markets, with support from the Communications Assistant. Using your understanding of the luxury market both in the UK and internationally, you will be driving brand awareness and amplifying our partnerships, such as Frieze, through global press coverage in key titles – both print and digital – as well as working closely with the Special Projects to support an engaging and newsworthy global programme of events. A keen interest of the luxury sector is essential as well as developing good relationships with global press, partners and suppliers within the industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with the Communications Manager & Communications Assistant to ensure that international agencies are up to date with all brand launches, exclusives and news stories and have been sent collateral and updating sample edits appropriately.
  • Continuing to develop strong relationships with journalists at target UK publications to ensure successful pitching
  • Managing the Communications Assistant to ensure that all coverage is clipped in a timely manner. Signing off the weekly coverage updates to the business on press coverage achieved
  • Working with the Communications Assistant to ensure the teams fashion week tickets, schedules, travel and appropriate accommodation is organised and managed in good time for relevant team members
  • Train and support the Communications Assistant in all relevant areas from image and stock requests, product placement, credit uploads and splash
  • Overseeing and working with the Communications Assistant in the sending out and timely return of stock in the UK and to agencies as well as helping them to manage stock levels with weekly check-in meetings and quarterly stock takes. Flagging any issues in a timely manner to Communications Managers and Communications Director to ensure they are resolved successfully
  • Overseeing and working with the Communications Assistant and Intern to ensure monthly reports are completed in good time across UK & ROW to include clippings and analytics of key coverage achieved in UK & ROW
  • Assisting in the planning of global press events, ensuring good attendance and executing pre and post event reports
  • Day to day management of the Communications Assistant and Intern to ensure they are getting rounded experience and coping with what is expected/workload of stock/clippings etc
  • Working with Communications Manager to compile press releases for exclusive and relevant brand launches for approval by HO Communications
  • Pitching and securing news stories in the UK & Rest of World titles in all exclusives, focus brands and events
  • Working with the Special Projects team on the management of UK based events, ensuring activity is shared with the business and round-up reports completed post event
  • Working with the Communications Manager to create and keep up to date a strategic calendar detailing upcoming magazine specials
  • Supporting the Communications Assistant regarding any issues with stock loss and credits
  • Ensuring the UK ROW database is up to date across all categories
  • Working with the Communications Manager to ensure interns have a rewarding and successful internship at MATCHESFASHION and achieve all goals.
  • Relationship building externally & internally
  • Gifting initiatives – work with Communications Manager on any gifting initiatives.
  • Keep the team up to date with current and future trends, ensuring the communications strategy remains interesting for a focused, creative customer
  • Responsible for setting agendas for meetings and following up with clear actions
  • Support the Communication Manager in developing strategy for in-house label RAEY each season to ensure continued press activity and media interest
  • Raise POs and input into the monthly budget ensuring all budgets are kept up to date and in line with proposed budget
  • Supporting with internal communications, ensuring key messaging is shared with the business in a timely manner

Requirements:

  • Highly commercially aware with a creative flair and knowledge of fashion designers and brands.
  • Highly computer literate and experience with CMS desirable.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to identify problems, demonstrate use of initiative and implement appropriate solutions.
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Be able to carry out your role to the highest standards in a fast-paced environment
