Position Title: Information Management Officer

Job Description:

You will join the Knowledge and Information Management (KIM) branch and work with the KIM Manager (Records Management) to deliver the Security and Information Management (SAIM) strategy in support of the UK Statistics Authority Strategy. Our aim is to ensure that information management at ONS meets legislative and regulatory requirements, meets the needs of internal users and supports the business in collecting, analysing and disseminating statistics about the UK’s economy, society and population. Information can be become a liability if it is not managed appropriately and this is a key strategic role in enabling us to ensure we know what information we hold, why we hold it and how it should be managed before it is either disposed of or transferred to another body or archived.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing operational advice and guidance on information management, working with staff at all levels and embedding best practice across the organisation.
  • Creating and implementing information management processes and controls, ensuring they are regularly reviewed, kept up to date and are fit for purpose.
  • Creating and maintaining relevant guidance and training materials, to include delivering training where appropriate
  • Utilizing appropriate processes and tools to apply lifecycle management to information across relevant platforms such as SharePoint Online, Confluence, Google Drives and network shared drives
  • Developing and maintaining good working relationships with key stakeholders e.g. Data Custodians and Information Asset Owners.
  • Responding to and resolving Service Desk calls relating to all areas of KIM including SharePoint Online.

Requirements:

 

  •  Experience of working in an information management or equivalent role.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of applying legal and regulatory frameworks governing information management in a public sector environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing information throughout its lifecycle.
  • Experience of being organised with well-developed planning skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to co-ordinate several activities in the same timeframe to tight deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with a proven record of establishing and maintaining strong and productive relationships across functional and organisational boundaries.
  • The ability to be highly collaborative and flexible within a team to ensure that a range of diverse tasks are completed to a high standard.
