Position Title:Permit Technician

Job Description:

Performs work in various County permit issuing functions and related public service operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists the public in completing applications for permits issued by the department.
  • Accepts and performs initial review of all applications for completeness. Records all permit applications and routes to appropriate person for final plan review.
  • Tracks and answers questions as to status of permit applications and contacts applicants when permits are ready for issuance.
  • Enters permit data into County mainframe program and performs site plan review.
  • Answers all general questions and directs more technical questions posed by the applicant concerning permit processing procedures, zoning, subdivisions, variances, septic, building, fire and other similar regulations to appropriate staff.
  • Issues departmental permits according to established methods.
  • Accepts and documents complaints on code and safety violations.  Maintains logs and files regarding investigations.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. required and two years with permit issuance experience; and/or any combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job.
  • LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Valid Driver’s License.
