Job Description:’

The Anaheim Convention Center (ACC) reigns as the largest exhibit facility on the West Coast, having hosted such large, well-attended events as the Winter NAMM Show, Disney’s D23 Expo and Citrix Synergy. Originally opened in 1967, the ACC currently spans 53 acres and offers 1.6 million square feet of functional space and dynamic features.  The ACC completed its seventh expansion in Fall of 2017, providing an additional 200,000 square feet of flexible meeting space to our guests.

Responsibilities:

  • Patrol facility, handle calls for service and issue citations on the properties of the Convention, Sports and Entertainment Department either on foot, or on vehicle.
  • Patrol and issue citations on parking lots in the Convention Center or other City properties per direction of the City Council.
  • Lock and close gates, bollards and doors, check for any hazards or safety issues and either mitigate the issue or report it to the proper authority
  • Check for water gas leaks and other hazards or malfunctions and take necessary action to have the problem corrected.
  • Take Identification photographs receive lost items and requests for recovery of such items.
  • Provide escorts as needed for safety precaution.
  • Issue and safeguard equipment such as city owned vehicles, two-way radios, access cards, keys, and other various security equipment and electronic checkpoint software.
  • Exercise good, independent judgment and make sound decisions; understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Requirements:

  • Journey-level experience as a Security Guard. An equivalent combination of experience and training sufficient to perform the essential job functions and provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
  • City vehicle codes and parking laws; security methods, terminology and equipment.  Correct English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.  Basic and legible report writing skills; City, state and feral rules, laws, and regulations as they apply to public health, public safety, parking and public nuisance issues.
  • Effectively maintain interpersonal relations and diplomacy with people; demonstrate professionalism, ethics, cultural diversity and discrimination awareness; operate city owned radios, vehicles; write clear and accurate reports; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; read and understand departmental policies, rules, regulations and instructions; use discretion and sound judgment; work independently;  maintain availability to work any shift, weekends, holidays and emergency call out without restriction.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver’s License by date of appointment.
  • Possession of a valid State of California-issued guard card by date of appointment.
  • A valid State of California-issued Proprietary Guard Card within six months from date of appointment.
