Job Description:
The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department is accepting applications for a regular part-time Facilities Assistant in the Athletics Division.
Responsibilities:
- Plans and manages City Storm Water Drainage System engineering projects, programs, and operations to ensure planning, development, and construction are in compliance with all applicable city/state/federal codes and regulations, and according to all acceptable engineering practices.
- Develops, implements, evaluates, and annually reports on the City’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Small Municipal Separate Sewer System (SMS4) Permit.
- Assists with the preparation of plans and specifications for projects to be put out to bid.
- Reviews developer’s stormwater plans submitted for City approval.
- Checks design standards and ensures projects meet all applicable federal, state, and local requirements; resolves problems.
- Assists in solution of stormwater infrastructure problems; maintains awareness of federal and state stormwater regulations as they apply to the City of Aiken.
- Represents the City in activities & meetings with stormwater agencies, developers, businesses, professional and community groups, and the public regarding stormwater matters.
- Assists in implementing new policies and procedures as needed; works with various agencies and professional organizations; attends meetings as needed; assists with the preparation of annual operating and capital budget recommendations.
- Works in the construction, maintenance, and repair of municipal Storm Water Drainage System; serves as project leader for City project teams.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Earth Science, or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in stormwater management, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Knowledge of stormwater management methods and materials.
- NPDES MS4 permit requirements; valid SC state driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle record; CEPSI certification is required; CSPR certification is required; CFM preferred but not required.
