Position Title:Sustainable Places Planning Officer

Job Description:

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic person to join the Environment Agency’s East Midlands Sustainable Places Team. You will help manage the Environment Agency’s interaction with the planning process. You’ll support the team in managing planning consultations from councils and developers across the area. You’ll work closely with colleagues who deal with flood risk, contaminated land, water quality, biodiversity and permitted facilities to ensure the advice we provide is sound, and that we secure environmental improvements wherever possible.

Responsibilities:

  • You’ll provide advice and assurance over the management of our flood risk assets, including for our statutory reservoirs.
  • You’ll use your experience of problem solving to support assessment of the risk, urgency, and solutions to bring any below condition assets back to the required standard.
  • You’ll support our teams with internal/external partnerships, promoting sustainable solutions that improve flood risk and the environment, and help achieve our ambition to become Net Zero Carbon by 2030.
  • You will reinforce our engineering skills and resilience through mentoring and development of staff to achieve professional membership.
  • Through our national network of Catchment Engineers, you’ll contribute to national strategy and support continuous improvement, sharing learning and experience and providing peer support.
  • You’ll be a valuable part of our Operations Leadership Team, passionate about our people, celebrating diversity and helping create an inclusive environment where our people can be the best they can be.

Requirements:
