Job Description:

This is an outstanding opportunity for an innovative and hands-on public health consultant to step into an NHS provider setting and show how working in a downstream setting can achieve upstream goals.

Responsibilities:

• Work broadly and agilely to identify and respond to opportunities to embed health improvement or healthcare service quality improvements into existing services
• Increase the trust’s contribution to reducing health inequalities or improving the wider determinants of health
• Develop the use of the population health management platform, working with clinical audiences to create compelling information products which facilitate positive change in the way health services are structured or delivered
• Provide public health advice and specialist expertise as required to help the trust discharge its statutory and regulatory duties, including in health protection and emergency planning
• Participate in teaching, training and research activities, including supervision for public health registrars and other trainees where appropriate

Requirements:

• Identify opportunities for synergy between the trust’s public health business plan, the Suffolk County Council public health team’s business plan and the West Suffolk Alliance delivery plan, and use systems thinking and system working to design and deliver programmes in the population’s interests mutually and efficiently
• Be a credible and effective agent for change, adapting to the culture and goals of different teams and settings
• Ensure the trust demonstrates excellence in implementing national guidance on the role of NHS providers in prevention and population health, including guidance published by NICE, the Care Quality Commission, Public Health England and NHS England/Improvement
