Job Description:

The Work-Based Learning Coordinator (WBLC) educates and supports students and faculty in preparation for required programmatic work-based learning (WBL) experiences such as externships, field studies, practicums, etc. This position collaborates with faculty and staff from multiple programs across the Health Sciences, Education & Wellness Institute (HSEWI) on the unique work-based learning needs of their students. Specifically, the WBLC works directly with the following programs for WBL experiences: Allied Health Education, Early Learning and Teacher Education, Healthcare Informatics, Healthcare Management and Leadership, Health and Wellness, Health and Physical Education (Yoga, Personal Fitness Instructor). The WBLC determines if students have met requirements for the WBL placement. The WBLC serves as the single point of contact liaison between Bellevue College and all external organizations for all programs within HSEWI, regarding Affiliation Agreements.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain an accurate and secure electronic record-keeping system.
  • Collect, verify completion of, and track that faculty have completed necessary immunizations, background checks, health insurance, CPR certifications, Releases of Authorization, Criminal History Disclosure forms, other health documents, and site-specific training for supervision of WBL.
  • Collect, verify completion of, and track that students have completed necessary immunizations, background checks, health insurance, CPR certifications, Releases of Authorization, Criminal History Disclosure forms, other health documents, and site-specific training for WBL placements.
  • Train students and faculty on proper means of submitting information.
  • Share documentation with WBL organizations upon request.
  • Run reports in HP system quarterly to track upcoming WBL students.
  • Monitor WBL student course prerequisites to determine readiness for WBL experience.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated written expression using language appropriate to complexity of topic and knowledge and understanding of audience
  • Ability to build constructive relationships with students and co-workers characterized by high level of acceptance, cooperation and mutual regard
  • Intermediate-level skills in word-processing, spreadsheets, video-conferencing, document management, file sharing (MS Word, Excel, Sharepoint, MS Teams)
  • Effective communication skills
  • Experience in contract structure; terms and conditions; and negotiation
