Job Description:

Building Services Warehouse Worker is a journey-level classification in the maintenance series. The Building Services Warehouse Worker is responsible for carrying out the logistics of receiving, processing, inventory and delivering materials to county building sites for the maintenance staff. Performs semi-skilled duties in maintaining warehouse operations as well as minor repairs of county buildings and landscapes.  The Building Services Warehouse Worker performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled duties, requiring independent judgment, thorough knowledge of departmental operations and the materials used to maintain county buildings and grounds.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing daily warehouse operations including shipping and receiving, driving forklift, stocking shelves, fulfilling orders, and managing warehouse cleanliness.
  • Performs manual and clerical tasks involved in the purchasing and distribution of supplies and materials, including delivery and transport of materials.
  • Maintains inventory software system, stores items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouse and tool room.
  • Maintains compliance of safety data sheets (SDS) utilizing online system.
  • Operates and maintains a variety of hand tools, power tools and equipment.
  • Performs snow removal at assigned site
  • May be required to respond to emergencies, during and after work hours
  • Performs related duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge of the various materials and equipment necessary for maintaining large commercial buildings and grounds.
  • Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to large commercial buildings and landscape maintenance.
  • Thorough knowledge of inventory software systems and organization of physical goods.
  • Knowledge and skills in the safe use and operation of various pieces of warehouse equipment, snow removal equipment and power tools related to building maintenance.
  • Ability to work effectively with other employees, agencies and the public.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties independently without close supervision.
  • Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time and in all kinds of weather.
