Job Description:
The Houston Health Department is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of an Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Review permit applications and amendments in order to provide response on behalf of BPCP and HHD.
- Provide engineering assistance in identifying, evaluating compliance issues in operations and process flows.
- Work with Graduate Engineer and others to ensure that deliverables, contractual reports, and obligations are met.
- Prepare surveys, investigation, and observation reports for utilization in corrective recommendations or as legal evidence in the prosecution of violators.
- Provides technical support and expertise related to but not limited to:
- Air Sampling & Instrumentation
- Analytical Chemistry
- Community Exposure
- Engineering Controls
- Health Risk Analysis & Hazard Communication
- Toxicology
- Work Environments & Industrial Processes
Requirements:
- Requires graduation from an approved curriculum in engineering by the State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers with satisfactory standing; OR requires graduation from an engineering or related science curriculum at a recognized institution of higher education, other than a curriculum approved by the Board, and passage of the eight-hour fundamentals of engineering examination prescribed by the Board.
- Four (4) years of active practice in engineering work after graduation from an approved curriculum in engineering are required.
- Requires registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. A specific branch of engineering (such as civil, mechanical, structural, etc.) may be required.
- May require a valid Texas driver’s license and compliance with the City of Houston policy on driving.
