Position Title: Head of Space Planning

Job Description:

The Head of Space Planning is responsible for store planning for all Primark stores across all regions. You will be overseeing a team of Space Planning Partners, with the ultimate responsibility for executing Space Planning Strategy and driving profitability across all stores.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Director of Space Optimisation to develop and drive a best in class Space Planning Strategy across the business
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders and develop and lead a cohesive team of Space Planning Partners with clear KPI’s
  • Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with Space Planning, Merchandising and Retail
  • Responsible for the overall development of the retail space allocation to improve productivity of space
  • Provide guidance to the Space Planning Partners in the creation, revision, and maintenance of floorplans and planograms to align to corporate strategy
  • Work with a defined set of data tools to drive improvement in performance and optimising data such as linear conversion per store
  • Owner of the space planning calendar and process and responsibility for driving this within team
  • Contributes to, participates in, and supports continuous improvements and advancement efforts for the space management tools and processes
  • Continually review performance and the impact of changes to Space Strategy, sharing findings for recommendations and for lessons learned
  • Work and develop a clear set of KPIs for the Space Planning team
  • Working closely with Heads of Merchandising to develop their product strategy around space, both in terms of forward-thinking strategy and trading
  • Building strong, strategic relationships with senior leaders in Retail, including Area Managers, Directors of Sales and Commercial Managers.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, team based, deadline-oriented environment
  • The ability to effectively manage complex tasks and prioritise multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Strong organisation and project management skills
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills
  • Outstanding written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong technical capabilities including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to guide, manage and motivate staff
  • Ability to interact and deal effectively with diverse groups of people at all levels of the business
  • 10+ years of experience in a retail environment, with 5+ years at management level.
  • Relevant university degree
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, possessing the ability to effectively prioritise projects and deliverables whilst meeting deadlines set by management.
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills, ability to multi-task, plan and prioritise work schedule for self and team and work within agreed timescales.
  • Excellent attention to detail and an ability to analyse and interrogate high volumes of data as well as demonstrating an ability to focus on higher level overview.
  • Proven ability in managing sensitive matters whilst ensuring all Primark information remains confidential to the business.
  • Be a collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal/communication skills, while demonstrating high levels of emotional intelligence and possess the ability to push back with professionalism. Proven ability in developing effective working relationships across all levels of the organisation.

  • Effective and persuasive presentation skills, including the ability to present complex information in an understandable manner to all areas of the business.
