Position Title: Engineering Manager

Job Description:

Reporting directly into the Site General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the onsite ‘in-house’ engineering team whilst providing expertise in all aspects the site maintenance and the automation systems and automated equipment. The Engineering Manager also has full responsibility for designing and implementing a robust planned preventative maintenance plan and procedures focusing on minimizing the occurrence of adverse effects that could affect the operational service levels from the site.

Responsibilities:

  • Analysing the automation infrastructure for deficiencies and inefficiencies
  • Ensuring that the Company Quality Health & Safety objectives and statutory obligations are adhered to at all time
  • Effective completion of all Planned Preventative Maintenance schedules to exacting standards
  • Delivery of improvement processes and methods of operating practices within the site
  • Coach, mentor and develop the engineering team / direct reports
  • Effective communication across all stakeholders of the Business
  • Responsible for the surpassing of all Key Performance Indicators and delivering an exemplary level of customer service
  • Accountable for fault diagnosis and problem solving
  • External Contractor management and monitoring of key service KPI’s with action plans
  • Produce weekly and monthly management service / KPI reports for internal and external distribution
  • Management of large automation projects (including project inception and costing including Business Case preparation)
  • Full P&L responsibility across the entire engineering budget
  • Ensure that the Engineering team are fully up to date with relevant legislative qualifications
  • Ability to create a departmental 5 year plan with full accountability for delivery and execution

Requirements:

  • Relevant mechanical / electrical qualifications and experience
  • Keen analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent written and oral communication
  • Strong knowledge of building infrastructure, strong working knowledge of regulations and codes
  • Ability to work in a dynamic business environment
  • Understanding of Continuous improvement methodology would be advantageous
  • Fully flexible approach to work and able to adapt self to meet the needs of the business
  • Ability to demonstrate sufficient technical experience of High Bay Automated Warehousing or similar
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to work and tasks
  • Able to work without direct supervision
  • Must be an effective communicator and able to develop good working relationships with all levels of colleagues across all teams
  • Must be able to demonstrate a proactive approach to raise service levels and ensure clarity of goals
  • Must have a flexible approach to working hours
